Gennie Raider

Week 2

*                  Personal Information

 My birthday was December 1, 1999 and that makes me 9 weeks old now.  As of last week my weight was up to 8lbs. 11ozs. But I am growing into a big girl … FAST.  I bet I have gained a few pounds already.

*           Hobbies

I stay busy all the time.  My favorite things to do are chewing on my pillowcase, eating, sleeping, chewing on one of my bones, scratching, helping in the garden, digging, chasing the squeak toys, chewing on mom’s shoes, licking dad’s face, eating the hairbrush, napping, chewing the back out of that chair in the corner (it took a while for anyone to catch on to that one), eating paper whenever I can get a hold of it and stealing socks.

*           Doctor’s Report

I went to the vet last week and it was not as bad as you might think.  The Doctor was really nice.  They give you lots of treats at the doctor’s office and everyone thought I was really cute.  One lady even said she could tell I was a girl from across the room just cause my face was so pretty (I liked that).  The vet said he could tell I was going to grow up to be a wonderful dog (but he might say that to everyone).  I had to take some medicine cause I have hookworms but they should go away easily enough.  Otherwise I was very healthy.  I am going to go back to the doctor next week so I can get another shot and take some more medicine.    I can’t wait.

*           The Gate

Mom and Dad got some kind of gate thing to go in the bathroom door.  Whenever they leave or go to sleep they lock me in there.  For the first few days I did not know what to do about it but lately I have found a few ways around it.  The other day they came home to find the gate knocked down.  I bet they still don’t know how I did that.  Last night I found a way to climb over it.  I even remembered to bring my favorite chew toy (the one they only let me have when I am locked up) with me when I jumped.  I didn’t have water for a while but it was worth it.  I loved running around the house without anyone to say “NO” or to take the really good chewing stuff away.

*           Training

I have been learning so much since I moved here.  We practice all the time but I don’t always know what I am supposed to do.  “Sit” I understand and when I do it right I get a treat.  I don’t know why mom leaves when she says “Stay” but I just follow her and hope she will give me a treat for it.  I have gotten really good at going potty outside.  As long as someone is taking me outside when I wake up I almost never make a mistake.  When I do make a mistake I try to make it in dad’s office.  I don’t get to play much in there so I figure it is the safest place.

*           The Garden

Every day when mom is home I get to spend a few hours helping in the garden.  Every time she pulls a weed out my job is to attack it right away.  I could do this for hours if she would let me.  Today we watered all of the other plants.  I tried to bite the water but it did not work the way I thought it would.  The only part I don’t like about the yard is when we rake.  I hate that.  Come to think of it I don’t like sweeping either.  Dad said “just wait till we break out the vacuum but I did not understand what he meant”.
